Nobody Told Me...

Greetings!

Nobody told me..... that it would be so hard to build an empire and take over the world! But I digress... I went balls to the walls making necklaces and bracelets over weekend and it felt damn good. I've been so focused  (in otherwords stressed) on the business side of things, that I hadn't given myself any time to create new sparkle babies. I think my poor yarn stash was feeling neglected!

But not anymore! I've picked some bright and beautiful colors for the summer and I'm very excited about them. So I made a few 'Dope Ropes' which are my new lines of necklaces, bracelets, and many many many many bangles.

The many many many many bangles

The Bracelets

There is much more, but I figured I'd give you just a smattering of what's to come! Some bracelets and bangles are already photographed and are for sale in my Etsy Shop, so run and check it out! I'm geeked about the new additions and I have personally tested and worn my own stuff, so I can tell you with all honesty that they are not itchy and will not make you hot despite the fact that it's yarn! So that's all for now kiddies!

Bracelets & Little 5 Points

Greetings!

I'm proud to present my newest sale! I decided that it was high time I made something for myself to just bop around town in, right? I like the side effects of self promotion, because someone spotted it and wanted one too.

Of course I was happy to make her one too! Another satisfied customer.

Thought I'd share a food adventure with you too. Since we're both jewelry whores, me and my friend, Stacie D went to Little 5 Points to acquire some new things. L5P is the spot to find the new new! While we were there, we stopped in OMG Taco. I've never been, but always wanted to go and I'm glad we did.

Although I didn't dig the high tables, (because I'm a shorty doo wop) the atmosphere was good , the food was slammin', and the guy taking the order was cute.
You can't complain about cute guys.. :)

Omg Fries! Very good. Could possibly be addictive. Has cheese, lettuce, chicken, and Omg sauce.

So that's it. More pictures coming tomorrow of new products.

Antiques, Pot Pie, and Limeade Oh My!

Hello world!

Thought I'd throw you a few of my weekend adventures today! I just recently found out the goodness of a nearby antique market. It's only open once a month and it just so happened that el parentas were visiting, so me and the mama had to take advantage of it! There were actually two different locations, so we only scratched the tip of the iceberg by going to one. When I tell you they had everything that you could possibly ever think you even wanted........ Some overpriced, some not, but you will run into that anywhere.

Later that evening we got a little creative in the kitchen with a cheeseburger pot pie.

Turns out pretty, right? It's very easy.. Just lean ground beef, ketchup, onions, sharp cheddar cheese, & pie shells. You really can't go wrong!

Especially when you have limeade to go with it. :)

Very good weekend indeed! Did you have any adventures?

It's a Process..

Greetings peoples!

The weekend is finally here and I couldn't be happier! It's been a semi stressful week that I'm glad is now complete. Now it's on to bigger and better things. Fun things.. And in the case of right now.. Yarn things! You see, I have this little obsession with yarn..... So I thought I'd share my creative process with you.

Usually I have to be in a certain mood to be creative and I can't think up new things to do if I'm stressed. Seeing that I can't be stressed is probably the reason why ideas come to me the way they do. Generally when I'm just waking up from sleeping, an image will just pop up in my minds eye or I will be meditating and an idea will appear and I work everything out in my mind on how to make it, right then and there. Other times, I get inspiration the old fashion way and see something I like and say to myself, 'Hmm.. I should make something like that.'

Then still there are other times when I can't think of anything to do and I have to let the yarn speak to me and let it tell me what it whats to be. I have to be very quiet and listen.........

I hear some of everything like, 'Make me into a pillow.. no no wait! I wanna be a necklace. Hm, or no wait! Wait! I choose to be a scarf instead! Yes! A scarf!!' then of course I go to work and make something wonderful that I can be proud of and recommend because I would use/wear it myself.

Sometimes me and the yarn get into a fight and I get all wrapped up in my work..

This one here told me it wanted to be a 'baby blanket'. I think it lied though and decided it wanted to be an afghan instead. Three skeins later and all I have is a little over half a blanket! It's just not right.. Personally I think it's a bastard move to change it's mind when we agreed upon a baby blanket, but what can you do right?

In the end though, it's always a happy ending and everything turns out fine. There's nothing else to it really. I make what appeals to me and I love when I find others that are into what I make. It's a really good feeling when you can make something with your bare hands that can bring someone else such happiness! There is no special studio that I have. It's just me, the couch, a good movie and/or audio book, a hook and of course the yarn and I truly love it! So for all of you yarn addicts or creative junkies, where do your inspirations come from?

Super Soul Sunday

Greetings!

I thought I would share some food for the soul today. If you've been following me for some time, then you know that I love Super Soul Sunday on the OWN. I look forward to it every single Sunday.

One of my favorite episodes was from a couple of weeks ago with Oprah & Caroline Myss, where she talks about being true to yourself and your life's purpose. Go watch the full episode (-->here<--).

Caroline Myss says that, ' If you have life you have purpose and that people suffer when they choose a life that doesn't belong to them.'
When I thought about this, it made perfect sense to me. I reached back into my memory and thought about things I was trying to hold on to that were no longer present in my life and understood that those people or things were not meant for me. When I learned to let them go, (most of) the suffering ended and better things occurred. What is your opinion about it or if you watch the video what did you think?

A Day Off = Chicken Pot Pie Day

Greetings!

It's that time again..... Food Experiment Time!
I really like to cook and try new things I haven't done before, because....... well it's fun. Being me, I always find a recipe to follow and then don't follow it all the way, b/c there is some ingredient that I don't have in the house or one I know I'm not gonna buy. Why don't I buy it, you ask? Because... what if I make the dish and find that I don't like it and then I have something like a bottle of white wine that I'm not gonna use again? So yeah, I end up pretty much making the new and improved version of a recipe that I've never tasted anyway. lol!

It all started with Granny's apron..

And Aunt Lukie's Chicken Pot Pie recipe... She has the ONLY.... and I seriously mean the only chicken pot pie recipe that I've ever liked. Ever............

I will admit that it's somewhat altered.... again.. you gotta work with what you got.

A few carrots.. (and some peas not shown)

Some rough chopped onion..

Garlic, Salt and pepper to taste..

And then........ a pie was born!!! bwahahahaha!

All done! This is only the 3rd pie I've ever made in my entire life. The first two were for Thanksgiving quite a few years back. They didn't turn out so well. Never mix baking your first pie, with using your oven in a new apartment for the first time either. You only end up with two burnt and rock hard Chess pies. This one almost when to the darkside as well, but I smelled it before it was too far gone. I totally had the timer on... it just didn't take 40 mins to cook is all. :)

It was still yumtastic though, so I'm happy with the results. Did you have a food experiment lately?

*Peace*
