The New New.. or Something Like That!

Happy New Year Everyone!!!!

Yeah I know I'm a little late... Okay... maybe I'm way late considering I haven't posted on here and quite a while and the fact that its already the 10th on January. But! Better late than never right? Or at least that's what I hear. :)

In my last post I said that I was going to start blogging about my artwork. Yay for me! This is the last step before actually putting my art up for sale and I'm neeeeeeeeervooouuusssssssssss!! It's like you're putting your heart and soul out there to be seen and bought! (hopefully)

Anyway, let me tell you about what's going on...

Yep.. you guessed it! This is my work space. A small desk in my bedroom that has enough space for my paints, canvas and tabletop easel. Ideally I'd have my own studio and just paint and be creative all day. However, I'm still paying my 'staving artist' dues and that means I start with a room and a desk. It's all good baby!

** Work In Progress**

With this being an abstract piece, I love for people to have their own interpretations about what they see when they look at it. Why? Because everyone is different and has different points of view. When I started designing this piece though, what I was thinking about was my future wedding. A wedding? Yes... I know, but I'm a romantic at heart. The colors I wanted were Tiffany blue and brown or more elegantly.. chocolate.

***Finished Product***

What I see is a bride, represented by the blues and the groom represented by the browns. The intermingling of the colors or stripes is the train of the wedding gown as well as showing the coming to together of two people as one. The black lines bordering the stripes, represent the tuxedo. And last, but certainly not least... the grey right-hand corner represents the engagement ring. Fairly simple, right? lol.

Feel free to tell me what you see in this piece and what you think. I only ask that you please be kind. Also, stop by my shop Eclectic Oasis on Etsy.com to see this piece and more for sale in the near future.

*Peace*

A Change is a Coming!

Ok.. Alright...

I've made a major decision about this blog.

My theme or focus is gonna change somewhat. I will Still post the randomness that I love and enjoy, but I need a blog for the creative process of my art. It will feature what I'm working on and the joys and struggles that I have with it. Kinda like a background history on my pieces.

It should be fun and it's time to jump start this whole art thing I've been tryna do for what? Oh.. um.. just my whole life. lol. Time to push the fear aside and just go for it.

Oh boy, here we go!

The Hangout

Happy Saturday all!

I have discovered this new coffee spot that's fairly close to me. So far I love it. It's one of those spots that you can drink some coffee, tea, or have a meal, while you enjoy your free wi-fi.

The night that I went, they were have a high school improve thingy going on. It was fairly funny, but I was pretty much enjoying my cookie and finishing up writing my letter.

They have a lot of artwork hanging on the wall by local artists, which is freakin sweet! There are even bookshelves with real books to read on them! It's almost like going to your mom's cool friends house and just being able to chill. So not only do they have books, but plush comfy chairs and couches to sit on too.

All that creative energy flowing that night gave me inspiration for a new painting. I'm excited about starting it, even though I haven't finished another painting that I'm doing. But hey! That's just how it goes..

Enjoy a great weekend folks!

My New 8 Legged Friend...

Sup,

So on Friday, while I was at work I decided to take a nice little power nap on my afternoon break. Where do you take power naps, whilst at work? In the car, of course!! It was rather hot, so I had the windows cracked. Nothing that I wouldn't normally do. Only this time....... someone decided to join me, without an invitation might I add. I discovered this new friend once I woke up.

Yes.... this my friends is the huge, nasty, green spider that thought it would be fun to keep me company!!!! ::: shivering like Mr. Burns ::: It grosses me out just looking at this picture. Anyway... I quickly rolled up my window and prayed that it would be gone by the time I got off work 2 hrs from then.

This dude had other plans though.. He was still politely hanging in the same spot when I came back outside!!!!!!! So I'm thinking to myself.. 'Hey... no worries! As soon as I hit the interstate the wind will force fling his fragile little body off while I'm driving' So I'm driving....

I get up to 45 mph.. I look over.. and there he still hangs.

I get up to 60 mph.. I look over.... and there he still hangs!

I get up to 80 mph.. I look over........ AND THERE HE STILL HANGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the time I get home, he had crawled behind the side view mirror and decided to take up residence! I wasn't about to try and kill him for fear I get jumped on and bit, so I let him be, hoping yet again that he would just go away on his own. But no... I went back out to get dinner and there he hung. Thankful I haven't seen him all weekend so hopeful he did go away.

So that was my spider adventure. Yay.

Some Chocolate Wine & a Movie

Hi there,

Have you ever tried chocolate wine?? (for those of us who can legally drink) I bought some a few months back and am really just now truly enjoying it. It has a powerful kick that will make the back of your throat be like, 'WTF??' and it will get you riiiiiiiiiiight! I'm not gonna lie.. I had to water it down with some soy milk and it smoothed it right on out. It's like the adult version of chocolate milk, without all the bubble blowing.

Well.... I guess you could blow bubbles if you wanted to.. but that would mess up the grown & sexy feeling that you'd have while drinking it. And who doesn't like feeling grown and sexxxxxy? I know I do! It makes me wanna curl up next to a fire and read a book or snuggle. I sound like such a gurl right now.. lol! But hey that's just me.

Time for bed!

Soooo Sweet!

Whad up!

I know its been quite a long time since I've posted anything on here, but that's what happens to you when you start getting involved in your own life! Let's see... updates! Well I've gotten a new job, that I actually really like. There has been some drama with my lack of performance, but that was because everyone wanted to play the 'lets blame the new gurl' game. I got everything straight tho. They weren't gonna hold me down! ha!

I feel like I've grown in a lot of ways over the past few months. I had some hard lessons to learn, mainly about being true to myself, not allowing people to use me, and really finding my self worth. I've pretty much led my life trying to please and do what's right for other people. I realized though that, although sometimes it feels like I'm being selfish, really I have the right to do what makes ME happy at the end of the day. I cant even tell how great that feels!! Geez..

The part of life that I'm most enjoying right now tho, is that I have a new love in my life. (yay for me!) We get along great and are always cheesin all hard at each other. lol. It's sooooooo nice to be in the presence of someone who just allows me to be me. I don't have to pretend or be afraid that I'm gonna come off too corny. AND the best part is that he's not just the type of person who uses up all your good energy and asks for favors and just takes and takes and takes!!! I know that if I do something nice for him, he appreciates it and is giving in return!

So right now life in general is pretty damn sweet. ::: grinning :::

So that's me.. What's going on with you??

Ciao!

Radical Self Love!

Hello all!

As I do almost everyday, I read my favorite blog The Icing and Gala Darling has written another great post. This one happened to be about radical self love, which I am all totally about for this year. There were some questions on there to ask yourself to help you along on your journey, so I have decided to answer them here for myself and you! Enjoy..

What does RADICAL SELF LOVE mean to you? It means doing everything that you can to make sure that you're taking care of yourself and taking time to pamper yourself with whatever you love to do.

If you were engaging in RADICAL SELF LOVE on a daily basis, what would that look like? I would have all glorious, tasty, and healthy meals cooked for me, I'd watch at least one feel good movie, pamper myself with a massage, pedicure, or hair salon visit, meditate to feel grounded and take a yoga class.

What small pieces of that can you bring into your life TODAY? I can do my own pedicure, hair, yoga, meditation, & movie.

Which qualities or attributes would you like to bring into your own life via the application of RADICAL SELF LOVE? I would love to learn how to take the time to make sure I'm taking care of myself.

What beliefs do you currently hold that are stifling your regular expression of RADICAL SELF LOVE? I always feel guilty whenever I take the time to do something for myself or things that I want to do. I always want the people around me to feel comfortable so I always just do whatever they prefer. I hate it whenever people act like babies b/c they don't get their own way or they have to do something that they don't want to do. I just want to scream 'SUCK IT THE PHUCK UP!!!', but instead I just do what they want, b/c most of the time I don't mind what they want to do or I just don't feel like hearing the whining! Argh!

Are the people & activities in your life HELPING or HINDERING you in your quest for RADICALSELF LOVE? Would you be better off without them? I feel like I've already put the ball in motion of letting go of the people in my life that are only there to hinder me or be fake with me. Have I been better off without them? Yes, it's been less drama.

How can you reflect RADICAL SELF LOVE in the way you speak, the way you dress, the way you decorate your house, the work you do? Speak: I can stay positive and support other people to help keep them in a positive frame of mind. Dress: never step out the house without looking my best. House: keep things clutter free and clean. Work: be true to myself in my art.

Who could you use as a RADICAL SELF LOVE role model? I totally dig Queen Latifah and Lady Gaga! Queen shows that you can be beautiful, poised, and down to earth no matter what and Lady G. b/c she's not afraid to be who she is and act as weird as she wants to!

So that's it! I hope this has inspired you to be your best self and find a way to treat yourself as best as you can everyday.
