Weekend Rambles

Greetings Friends!
Are you just joining for Weekend Rambles? I like to think of this as a non-judgment, free flowng thought kind of space. I'm curious about and welcome your rambles and thoughts for today. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wow, I can't believe it's been this long since my last post! In my defense I was on vacation and my birthday did just pass. :) While I was away I got to visit with lot's of family, make biscuits with my Mom, do some touristy stuff around Atlanta, go to my favorite restaurant, and of course because I'm a yarn addict, I bought more yarn and hooks for new projects! Yay! It's been a good week. So let's ramble about some stuff, yeah?
* I really love when I get a new book and finish in like, three days because it's just that damn good! I just finished reading Decadence, by Eric Jerome Dickey, who happens to be my favorite authors and he did not disappoint. I aspire to write as well as him one day. :)
* Am I the only one that forgets to take stuff to the post office to ship? I've been trying to ship something off for what feels like weeks now and just haven't done it yet. I think part of it, is that I really don't like going to the post office. The employees always seem to be having a bad day, (in spite of this I still try to be friendly), the lines are long and it takes forever for one person to wrap up there time at the counter, and quite often there seems to be some unwritten rule that I didn't know about which forces me to get out of line and start all over again after correcting the problem. Ugh.. Going to the bank garners the same experience.
* Have you ever used dictionary.com? I love their Word of The Day! Check it out here. I'm totally going to start using this word in everyday life. Ha Ha!
* Often times I wonder if the people who read blogs are just other bloggers. I follow quite a few blogs, but I feel like that's because I like to read in general. Sometimes, I check out the people who leave comments on blog posts that I've read and they're all bloggers. Don't you know that I talked to one somebody at my job and I had to explain what a blog was was!?! I assumed everyone knew what they were by now. Guess I was wrong. :o/
* Breakfast is the best meal of the day in my opinion. It has the most fun and tasty foods. You might happen upon weird and totally gross foods for lunch and dinner.... but breakfast keeps it's simple and yummy, no? It's always strange to me when I run across people that don't.like.breakfast. You mean to tell me that you don't appreciate a nice warm biscuit, slathered in butter, with jam smeared on it? Come on! :)
* Do you ever feel the need to be creative or you'll just explode? Sometimes when I get this way I'll start to feel anxious and this nervous energy feeling will just be rumbling around in me until I go write, crochet, draw, or paint.
Okay friends, that is it for today! Do you have a Rambles post too? Leave your link in the comments below. Happy Sunday all!
Well friends I don't know about you, but I'm off to a stellar start for the week. Not for any particular reason. I just feel good, rested, and in a fairly cheerful mood! Well no, I take that back... I'm really geeked, because although it seemed like it took foreverrrrrrrrrr, I finally have my new domain name up and running!!! (Thank to hubby to be!) YAY! I was Life Happens and now I'm A. Sparkle Says! Go ahead and take a look at the address bar and you'll see it. :) I'm chair dancing as we speak.. So without further ado..
Last Weeks Wishes
* No meat for one week - I did it!! I really really did it! This is a total big deal for me. Never did I think I could go even one day without meat and I did a week! I learned a big lesson in doing this that I didn't expect at all. It's like facing a fear and ripping it to shreds! It feels damn good I tell ya! More info on the next blog post about this.
* Focus on Etsy shop - Totally did this one too. I've rearranged and set things up the way I need them and I'm ready to start setting up sales with coupon codes. Anyone else ready for Mother's Day? Oddly enough, I now have been commissioned to make two sets of hats ands baby booties. I'm excited to get started. More updates to come on this later as well.
This Weeks Wishes
* Start the Purge Process - For whatever reason I've felt the need to look through my stuff and get rid of all the things I don't need. I'm feeling a little cramped and that makes me anxious, so it's time to get this done. I'll start with at least 5 things, but the overall goal is to get rid of at least 100 items.
* Revamp the blog - I'd really like to find another template and change up some of my pages. So be on the look out for a new look. :)
* Weight Train & Exercise - I gotta put this one back on the list since I've fallen off. It seems like everyone around me is losing weight and getting in shape. It's mosdef time for me to get back on my grind, especially since Summer is fast approaching.
Welp, that's it friends! What are your wishes and goals this week? :)
Ciao!
The Lost Art of Snail Mail
Greetings!
Most recently I've been reading a blog called Vivid Please and on said blog, Vicky has organized a Snail Mail Trade. I don't know about you, but I absolutely HATE going to the mailbox. I'm talking about the kind of hate where I will refuse to check the mail for three weeks.... I am a 'Let's go paperless' enthusiast! I work with an oceans worth of paper all day long at work, so I certainly don't wanna deal with it at home. It's nice to get something other than junk mail and bills.
Here's the way it works: You will receive a gift in the mail from someone, as well as send one out. You aren't necessarily sending something to the person that is sending you a gift. The cap you spend is around $16. You answer 5 questions about yourself and give social media links of your choosing so that the person that is to send you something can find out what you're into. The person I was assigned to is Sarah. Some of the key things I picked up from her info was that she liked writing, photography, the outdoors & nature/animals.
I was so mad when I got to the Post Office, because I remembered that I forgot to take a picture of the items I got for Sarah! Do you do that to? Remember that you have to do something at the last minute. See this is why I just bought a planner. I digress though... So here's the picture you get..
We both like letter-writing, so I wrote a lovely letter to go along with the package. I surprised myself and wrote two pages. I figured, I knew a little bit about her, so it's only fair that I share a little bit about me. Okay, wait.. this wasn't two whole pages all about me. There was other stuff in there too. ha ha!
1. So I got the cutest little notebook that's red-ish with gold embellishments and a string wrap around closure with  bead at the end.
2. No point in having a notebook without a really cute bedazzled pen to write in it with right?
3. I picked out a nice matted photograph of a horse. It was beautiful! It's a black and white photo that shows mainly the side of the head of the horse and a little bit of the body. It's basically the horse standing out in a field and you can tell it's a windy day, because it's mane is all blown in it's face so that you can't even see it's eyes.
I just got my gift in the mail on 03/14 and I was so excited! I jumped up and down and everything when I got it. The anticipation was just killing me! I don't know know the name of my sender since there was no letter or return address, but I can tell you that she did a bang up job on presentation of the items. :)
Here's what I got:
How cute does everything look, right? A lot of things were edible items and the yarn and ribbon will be great for my crafting addiction. :) The little rubber ducky is actually lip gloss and the item in the top left corner of this last picture is a cute little bag. I think it's handmade, but I'm not sure.
Let me give you a closer look..
This was the first Snail Mail trade done and I look forward to the next one. It was a lot of fun picking out things for someone and waiting on something great to come in the mail. The organizer is in Scotland and so a lot of the people who signed up for the trade are in Europe as well. I like the fact that the items I get will more than likely come from across the ocean and it's a nice way to make friends from all over.
So tell me, have you done anything interesting and fun lately? I would love to have a pen pal to write to! How do you feel about such things? You don't like writing or you think it's a grand idea?
Ciao!
Vision Board 2014
Welcome to 2014!
I love the start of the New Year! It’s almost as if everything from the past year just gets cleaned away and you get to start anew. I know it’s all in people’s mind, but it does provide some comfort and hope knowing that the new year can bring new joyous beginnings. Speaking of new beginnings, why is it that making resolutions seem to get a bad rap nowadays? I wasn’t really into the whole making New Year’s resolutions for most of my life, because let’s be honest.. most people (including myself) have just broken them. I do like the idea of setting goals that you’d like to achieve though. It’s the same thing as making a vision board, which I’ve been told by my friend that I must join in on this year.
I’ve decided to create one on Polyvore. If you’re addicted to or even remotely like fashion…. you need to be on Polyvore. You get to make a collage of outfits, themes, and your personal style. For me it’s like going on a carte blanche shopping spree and everything fits perfectly! Warning: It can be very addictive.
My Official Goal this Year: Discipline!
It encompasses everything that I want to accomplish or work on, (i.e. living a healthier lifestyle, keeping up with chores, really setting up a schedule for my Etsy business and taking inventory, learning how to let my light shine, writing and blogging more consistently, etc, etc, etc.) So what are your goals or resolutions? Let me know!
Ciao!
