The Sunday Short

Salutations Friends!
It's early Sunday morning (yes the clock says 6:42 am) and I have no clue as to why I'm up so early. You would think that your body knows it's the weekend and therefore would say, 'Okay everyone. Let's make sure we take advantage of sleeping in today.' Since me and my organs are up, we figured why not say good morning, so....

Good morning dear friend! How are you?

Let's see now.. Today shall consist of warm delicious tea being sipped and enjoyed slowly, writing some more blog posts, editing pictures for Etsy (which hopefully won't take forever and a day!), and of course working on a new crochet project which I am highly excited about!! #Canwesaysupergeeked It will be both functional and aesthetically pleasing to look at. :)

What is your day looking like?

The Chicken & Waffles of It All: Food Adventure #33

Salutations one & all!

I hope everyone has had a great day. It's Thursday, which means it's Friday Eve and the weekend is almost here! I have quite an adventurous weekend ahead of me and hopefully I won't forget to take a ba-gillon pictures of everything. And then of course some crochet will be thrown in there too, because I'm totally obsessed with playing in yarn.  :op

So last weekend The Boo and I finally Finally found our way to Gladys & Ron's Chicken & Waffles. Now granted, I've been there once before back when I first moved to Atlanta, but I hadn't been back since. At the time, I went to the one downtown where the line stays overflowing and out of the door at all times and there's little to no seating. So we make it in the restaurant and I order breakfast. It was something like a waffles, eggs, turkey sausage, etc....
I was very underwhelmed by the food and left feeling like, "Meh.. I won't need to eat there again."

The Boo however raved about the food and was appalled that I didn't at least get the signature dish of Chicken & Waffles or what they officlly call the 'Midnight Train.' So this time I got the famed Chicken & Waffles, but of course it was my version of it. It traditionally comes with bone in chicken wings. I don't eat bone in chicken too tough, so I got it with chicken tenders and some honey mustard on the side. Some macaroni and cheese and yams where involved too.

 I was a happy camper.

I don't typically like going to soul food restaurants, because everything tastes so bland. Plus if I want soul food all I gotta do go visit some family and they do a much better job at it.  But! this food was glorious!! Everything was seasoned to p-e-r-f-e-c-t-i-o-n. Even the drink I ordered was delicious!

I got the 'Uptown' or better known as the 'Arnold Palmer', which is basically half sweet tea and half lemonade. All in all it was a good experience and I'm ready to go back again. If you're in Atlanta, I can't recommend going to the location downtown, but if you're with some locals, go to the one out in Lithonia. The parking, wait lines, and food is much better!

So that's it my dears! Have your tried any new restaurants or food lately? Have you had chicken & waffles? Have a fabulous rest of the day!

Ciao

Hey Hey Now! I do so hope that everyone accomplished their goals for last week. It looks like I'm becoming a Weekly Wisher on Tuesday instead of Monday... That will change as soon as my class is over over over!! Which thankfully will be mid-September! Yay! After I finish my coding class I'll be doing some graphic design training online and at my own pace. Accelerated programs are not for the faint hearted. In between class and studying, I've been crocheting my little heart out and loving it. I want to be fully prepared and ready for this upcoming Fall. The weather is already cooling down quite a bit here in Atlanta, which is very unusual but I'll roll with it. It's better for business.. Ha! So let's talk about what happened last week..

Last Weeks Wishes

Better Attitude towards class - er.... If anything it got worse!! I keep thinking about how lost I feel and how I'm not understanding what's going on. At this point my mind just has a wall up and it's not allowing any new information in. I'm just ready for it to be over basically.

Meditate - I knocked this on out of the park! I love to meditate. I didn't get a chance to meditate everyday, like I wanted to, but the fact that I got some in is good enough for me. :)

* Plan Etsy Stuff - As I mentioned above, I've been crocheting my ass off mainly over the weekend and I've made some plans about what I want to add for the season. I'll have quite a few headbands (like pictured above) available as well as cup/mug accessories. #I'mgeeked!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Weeks Wishes
Better Attitude - I'm gonna keep this one on the list. I just must simply have patience and get over this mental block. I have no choice but to succeed!
* Crochet! Crochet! Crochet! - This won't be hard at all!! I'm in such a crochet mood right now it's all I want to do with my free time. I may even start back to taking my supplies to work and crocheting on my breaks. We shall see.
* Clean Up My Etsy Shop - I want to take away some listings as well as decide on which ones will be on sale. Maybe a pre-Fall sale? A give away? I dunno. I'll think of something.
I think this is definitely enough for now. What have you been up to and trying to get done? Good luck on your wishes this week!
Ciao!
The Infamous Bathroom Pic
Greetings Friends!
I thought I would ask a question I've been wondering about lately. Most places that I've worked have had a full length mirror in the bathroom if not elsewhere in the building and I like to take advantage of it. I wanna make sure that I'm not walking around with my zipper down or that little piece of crust in the corner of my eye that always seems to appear out of nowhere is kept down to a minimum. Then that leads to other things like taking a picture and posting it on Instagram, because you think your outfit is cute!
Next thing you know, you have a ton of bathroom pictures in your phone's photo gallery and you're looking pretty vain, because you have so many pictures of yourself! I won't lie... I take a picture everyday..... and I don't feel vain at all! Ha!
I used to try to minimize the whole, "I'm totally in the bathroom right now, can't you see the stalls?" look, but now I just don't care. It's fun and I like taking pictures. As you can see, I pretty much stick to the same poses. You gotta stick to easy poses in case a co-worker walks in, so that you can look normal and as if you're just standing in the bathroom messing with your phone, ya know?
Sotell me, do you take the infamous bathroom picture at work or even at home? Have you become so good at it that you can give tips or tricks on how to take the best covert photos? Let us know!
Ciao!
Weekly Wishes #18
Salutations All!
Its that time again for weekly wishes! Did you set any goals for last week? If so, how did they go? Are you just joining me? Let me explain what happens for Weekly Wishes..
Well hello there! I really did plan on writing more this past week than I did, but I ended up feeling sick by the end of last week. I just gotta tell you it was not a fun time. Now it's a new week, with fresh possibilities and I'm hoping that many great things come my way. Speaking of great things, I was sitting and watching Project Runway the other day and as always, my hands were itching to create something. (I get inspired by watching others create awesomeness) So I decided to make something simple and mindless where I didn't have to count stitches and behold a coaster was born!
Then I figured why stop there and then a cup hat was born. Now I have both at work and I'm full on inspired to make more. I'll be adding some to My Etsy Shop for the fast approaching Autumn season. Yay! Let's talk about what happened last week shall we?
      Last Weeks Wishes
Faster Homework - Meh... Because I was feeling heinous when I had the most free time to get homework done, I didn't get any done! When I was feeling better I did try my hand at it and got about halfway through it before I hit 'The Wall'. After that I just slowly closed the laptop and sneaked out of the room, before my homework found out I was leaving and tried to persuade me to take another stab at it. It just wasn't gonna happen.
Track Food & Eat Better - I did this one about halfway. I started out good tracking everything in my little phone app and taking pictures and everything. Then it got a little harder to look at the truth of what I was eating, when I wanted a delicious fatty burger instead of the healthy leftovers I had waiting on me. I'd say overall, I'm doing better than I was before AND I'm drinking more water and less caffeine! That counts for something, right?? Oh yeah.. And I'm down one pound.. Yippee!!
This Weeks Wishes
Better Attitude - As you know, (maybe you don't if you're a newbie) I'm taking a class on how to do some coding. Plain and simple, It's kicking my ass!! To be honest I get really discouraged sometimes, because I feel like I'll never grasp the information and it all becomes very overwhelming. But! I have to remember that I'm smart, that I can do this, and I'm not the only one having a hard time grasping certain things. The plan is to write down a couple of mantas and read them whenever I'm feeling puny about my level of understanding.
* Meditate - Yep. It's back on the list. Not because I haven't been doing it (when needed), but because the Chopra Center 21 day meditation Challenge has finally started! Whoop! Whoop! I always seem to start out doing good and then fall off and won't meditate everyday. I'm trying to go all the way this time baby!! WHO'S WITH ME?!?
* Plan Etsy Stuff - I really wanna sit down and look at what I want to make for the Fall to add to my Etsy Shop. I have an idea of what I wanna do, but it's time to start making decisions on what is what and then get to crocheting.
So what have you been up to? Did you get what you wanted accomplished last week? Let me know!
Ciao!
Food Experiment: Healthy Stir Fry
Greetings friends!
I hope everyone is having a great week! Mine has a good stride going to it so far. Classes have been going well and I'm exciting to be getting into the 'meat & potatoes' of things. The class project is creating a blog from scratch, (which is right up my alley) and it's nice to see the fruits of your labor. :) Anyway, we're not here to talk about class, we're here to talk about foooooooood. Yummy glorious food! (I always think of the song Food Glorious Food from Oliver Twist)
I got it in my mind that I wanted to make a stir fry. I was inspired by my friend Stacie to cook more, since she had been posting food pictures of what she cooked all over the place. I thought it the desire for stir fry would go away, but it didn't and so I knew that I had no choice but to make it. I wanted it to be healthy, so I went to SkinnyTaste, my go-to website for yummy healthy foods. There are a couple of stir fry recipes on there, but the one I chose was the Thai chicken & pineapple stir fry. I like Thai food. I like pineapples. I figured it couldn't be too bad! :)
Ingredients: ~ Corn Starch ~ Fish Sauce ~ Sweet & Spicy Sauce ~ Bell Pepper ~ Pineapple ~ Garlic ~ Olive Oil ~ Chicken ~
Even though raw chicken makes me squeamish I figured if I was trying to be healthy, I may as well use the real thing the recipe calls for instead of the super processed kind. ::: shrugs :::
I started by cutting up the chicken first to get that out of the way, then I chopped up the peppers and pineapple.
The whole cooking processed didn't take that long which is a total plus in my book! When I want to come home from work I want to relax and eat dinner. Not stand in the kitchen for two hrs cooking and then be able to relax. I chose to make this dish with pasta because I already had some made up and ready to eat. Normally, I would've made it with rice.
The sweet spicy sauce I got was HOT!!!!! I'm talking about the heat is so much that the tip of your tongue becomes numb and you literally can't eat anymore!! Despite the spiciness I did enjoy the dish and it's one I'll make again. Have you been cooking anything as of late? Do you like or have a favorite stir fry recipe? Let me know!
Ciao!
Happy Monday all! I hope everyone is having a great day.
      Last Weeks Wishes
Use the Singing Bowl - Done! Most days last week I would come home from work and practice making my bowl sing. Some meditation happened with it too, but I was mostly playing around and enjoying my new toy. This week, I really want to meditate at least 3 days this week. I will consider it a warm up for next week when The Deepak & Oprah meditation will start on the 11th. You can sign up here, if you want to try it out too!
Eat.Sleep.Drink.Coding - True to my word, I did just that! I swear every Single night I dreamt about coding and when I wasn't actually coding, I was thinking about coding freaking out about coding!! Hopefully this week I can not freak out and just be open and receptive to what I"m learning. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This Weeks Wishes

Faster Homework - When I tell you that I studied alllllll daaaaay loooong on Saturday I'm totally not kidding. I really want to start using my time more wisely and get the homework done. It will be a little easier now that I have the know-how to get help when I'm stuck.

* Track Food & eat Better - I've been eating really poorly for probably the last two weeks and now my body is making me pay for it, by giving me stomach problems. If you've ever had those problems, then you know they aren't fun. At.All. So, my action plan is to track my food in my handy phone app and make sure I'm getting some more fruits and veggies into my diet. The biggest way I'm gonna obtain the fruit & veggies is by putting them all in a blender and then Ta-Da! drink them all down all at once. So I'll have that in addition to whatever I eat. :)

It's gonna be another short-ish week of wishes for me. Good luck with your goals this week!

Ciao!

Weekend Rambles...

Greetings & Happy Sunday!

Are you just joining for Weekend Rambles? I like to think of this as a non-judgment, free flowng thought kind of space. I'm curious about and welcome your rambles and thoughts for today. Enjoy!

***********************

I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I can't say that I've done anything terribly exciting, but I can say I've worked my butt off trying to complete homework!! Yesterday was spent on the floor, with a pillow, my MacBook, and my notes. I feel good about the work I've done, and that's all that matters. What have you been up to this weekend? Did you have fun? Let's ramble for a little bit and then I'm off to get back to studying.

* How do you shop for towels? I've avoided buying towels for years in fear that I will get the ones that leave little lenty balls all over you when you're trying to dry off.
I.Hate.Lenty.Towels!!
Why I've never Google'd how to shop for towels, I don't know. Or even bothered to look at reviews for that fact. I swear WikiHow has the answer on how to do everything in an easy 16 step process. Lol. There is even one on 'How to be a Hipster'... And it has pictures to help! Ha!

* I don't know how and haven't the foggiest idea as to why, but me and a co-worker were talking about bathroom tissue... Or rather the lack thereof. She was saying how she hates using the bathroom at someone's house and not knowing where the extra tissue is. I too hate this. It's awkward enough using someone's bathroom, but then to have to ask for tissue just adds insult to injury. Especially if you didn't look first before you sat down. (I suppose this is more of a woman problem than men, because we need tissue for everything we do) Do you keep tissue out in the bathroom for your guests? I was always taught that you keep some out for your guests, be it in the cabinet underneath the sink, in a cute basket, or just on the back of the toilet. No on likes scrambling to find some and I personally feel very weird about looking through peoples bathroom stuff (if they aren't available to ask) or trekking to the linen closet to explore for some damn tissue. You knew I was coming to stay... Just put some out.

* Although I'm not excited about the cold weather coming, I am exited about Fall! The scarves, beautiful falling leaves, apple picking, corn mazes, and rain boots... I love it all! There always seems to be an energy that crackles in the air when Fall is here and I definitely want to get out and enjoy it. Plus, Fall means Yarn Season!!!! I don't need an excuse to crochet, but Fall just makes it more appropriate. :) I can't believe school is getting ready to start too, which means football games and Homecoming to attend. I'm so ready. Do you have a favorite part of Fall?

I'm keeping it short and sweet today so that I can get back to coding. If you're curious about how it's going, you can check it out "here"! Have a great day peeps!

Ciao!

And On the First Day, I Felt Like a Dunce!

Salutations all!

If you've been following along, then you know that I've been talking about taking some classes. Well, I just started this week and the classes I'm taking are to learn how to code or in other words, learn how to built web applications or websites. Yay! I've been looking forward to it for a while now, so I was excited to get started.
I've had a little experience with HTML coding, because waaaay long along when MySpace and BlackPlanet was still popular I used to play around with adding different pictures to my profile, making words glow or show in bold... That kinda thing. I enjoyed it then, so I figured I would enjoy it now too, plus I could hook myself up with some new digs for this blog.
I consider myself a pretty smart person and I pick up things pretty quickly so I thought class would be okay. Let me tell you something...

I felt like a complete D.U.N.C.E.

This class is hard.. Info was being thrown at us so fast I didn't know what to do! For me it was kinda like listening to someone talk in another language. You feel like you're supposed to know what they're talking about, but you don't. The words come hurdling at you like a fastball, but at the last minute they miss your head, swiftly moving to the side and there is nothing but white noise going on in your mind. Picture how the TV would look when television used to go off! Haha..

While I'm in class, I feel overwhelmed, but when I get home and I can take my time and things start to make more sense to me. In my mind this is similar to taking a math class. (You even deal with numbers sometimes)

I'm only in class two days a week and the teacher is pretty heavy-handed when it comes to homework. That means for the next two months, I'll be studying my ass off and staying in on the weekends. Don't let movies fool you. Getting your life together is no walk in the park! The way I figure it is, this is a means to an end. So far, I'm really liking what I'm doing and I look forward to being proficient soon. After these classes are over, I plan on learning even more programs and then it's off to offer my services for monies. I mean.... who doesn't like getting paid for their skills and knowledge, right?

I feel like this is my season for change. It's that time where I actually get up off the couch and accomplish the things I said I've  wanted to do!  Are you in a season of change too? Do you know anything about coding?

Until the next time..

Ciao!
