30 Days to a New You!

Greetings friends!

We've made it to February and I'm still excited about doing new lifestyle changes for this year! I am determined to get back on track by taking better care of myself and one way I'm doing that is by getting my meditation on. Yes, I'm talking about sitting in a cross-legged position holding my pointer finger and thumb together and chanting 'OMMMMMM’. The effects really are glorious!

Although I tend not to show it so much in public, I carry a lot of anxiety and it hits the hardest when I’m around high strung people for long periods of time. Mediation is a great way for me to come back to center and feel balanced again. I feel more alert and calm when I meditate on a consistent basis. So what do you do when you need practice? Duh! You join a 30 day meditation challenge!

Sometime last year I happened upon a 30 day yoga challenge through DoYouYoga.com. It's a totally awesome website where you can find out everything under the sun about yoga and meditation. A major rabbit hole is what it really is, because if I read one post then I end up reading at least 5 more!

Here are a few benefits of meditation:

Reduces Stress

Encourages a Healthier Lifestyle

Slows Down Aging (woo hoo!)

Improves Concentration & Clarity

You Become More Self Aware

Reduces Pain Brought on by Tension

What's there not to love about everything on that list? And all I did was list a few! I implore you to do something good for yourself today..... I dunno, with maybe meditating! :) So will you be brave enough to join the challenge with me?? I think you should. Just click here to sign up!

Ciao!

Happy Monday everyone! I'm probably a little cheerful for a Monday, but it's for a good reason. I'm feeling especially creative these days and I'm going to ride this wave for as long as it wants to last. I must admit something to you... I've been cheating on Blogger with WordPress! I know..  I know..  Oh! The horror.. I see a ton of blogs as well as websites hosted through there, so I figured why not check it out. I'm not moving or anything (yet), but I have started another blog for writing short stories. Here's a little excerpt.

"Her hands were cold. The kind of cold that seems to seep way down deep. Deep into your

veins, your blood, and your bones and encompass your whole being. Vie despised the cold and had immediately ordered a cup of black coffee when she sat down at the small cafe. No sugar and no cream. She liked things classic and simple. It’s the way she preferred to dress herself and to live her life. As Vie bounced her crossed legs and sat looking out of the window of the cafe, she contemplated leaving even though she had just gotten there no more than ten minutes ago.

Things could get very ugly if she did. Complications could ensue and that would threaten the Classic & Simple life motto that Vie wanted to live by. It was just one complication really. His name was Claudio Ubenski."

Are you intrigued? Click here to read more! Okay, on with the show! Let's talk about Last Weeks Wishes

Last Weeks Wishes

* Research Colleges - Okay so, I did research some schools. I however didn't get any further that I already was. I really wanted to find a school that would work for me and one that I could go tour and sit down and speak with a counselor. So I'm going to keep on looking and in the meantime I'll be taking some internet training courses.

* Food Prep - I totally nailed this one! I'm actually pretty proud of myself for this one, especially since I'm a procrastinator extraordinaire. I chopped, bagged, and set out items I needed ahead of time. It came in handy, because I woke up 30 minutes late one day, but because I did that prep I didn't have to scramble to be on time for work. I've even started picking out my clothes the night before. It saves SO MUCH time in the morning. Yay!

* Send Packages - I finally finally finally got this one done!! It feels good knowing that that is done. I literally gave an exhale of relief when I left the post office! I've also sent off a letter to my pal and two greeting cards. I'm on a roll folks!

* Write! - I know I've had this one on the list before, but now it's for the new short story I'm working on. I'm really digging the vibe it gives and I've gotten positive feedback so far. Feel free to tell me what you think too! :o)
* Complete a Crochet Project - I've been working on a couple sparkle babies as of late and I can't seem to finish any of them. I keep frogging the project and redoing it in an attempt to make it better. I just found a new pattern that I'm going to try and I hope it's easy enough to understand. Wish me luck!
* Blog Prepping - I really want to start writing my blog posts before the day I need to post them! I've just got to bite the bullet and decide that I'm going to start writing on a certain day and time. Like right now... I'm at work in the break room, trying to finish this up. Crazy. (pause for time elapsed) Now I'm at home really finishing. Got to do better!

So these are my wishes for this week and I'm excited about them! Is that weird to say? Ever since I started writing them down on a Post-It, it has made all the difference in me getting them done and remembering what they are. Speaking of exciting, if you missed the last Pinterest Food Challenge, then you can still participate this week and the weeks to come! I've decided to make this a weekly event (I will be posting on Wednesdays) and the challenge is to cook something from your pin board that you've been telling yourself you're going to cook and you just haven't. Take pictures of the process and the meal, write a blog post about it, and then you can add your link to the Link Up and share it with the world! And let's be honest here.. Who doesn't love to self-promote their blog? :)

That is all for now friends! Have a great week and good luck on your weekly wishes!

Weekly Wishes!

Greetings Peeps!

So as I normally do, I was reading through one of the blogs I follow (jenneng), which of course led me to another blog (the nectarcollective) and I ran across this awesome post where you talk about your weekly wishes. I thought that it would be fun!

Here’s how it works: You tell about your weekly, monthly, etc goals/wishes/achievements and you get to be apart of this big group of people that are doing the same thing. Yay!

Weekly Wishes as Follows:

1. I have been writing a book for a while now. Sometimes it’s hard to know where you want the characters to go. I know what I want to happen in the storyline. It’s just determining how to get them there. So I really wanna push through and write, write, write. Or to quote Carrie Bradshaw when referring to writing, “I want to lock myself in here and just you know.. bang it out..”

2. I MUST get back to exercising TODAY! I’ve been really slacking. :o/ Although I do dread doing it, it’s not nearly as bad as actually doing the work. Well… I’m mean.. sometimes it is. But for the most part it’s okay. Right?

3. Gather up a couple things to sell on eBay or Poshmark. I want to sell my old galaxy S3 and maybe a pair of shoes, some clothes and at least one home décor item. I always say I’m gonna do it and then I just don’t. Who doesn’t like extra money? Oh and can I just say that the Samsung Note 3 is THE most awesomist phone everrrrrrrrrrrr! #Androidforlifebaby

4. Start a new crochet project. I’ve been meaning to make this scarf/mini shawl since forever!!! I always think about doing it when I can‘t do anything about it, like when I’m at the mall or while I’m at work. This does me absolutely no good… While I’m not home, something will make me think of crochet and then it’s like, ‘Oh yeah… I’ll start that when I get home!’. Then I get home and I start doing everything under the sun except pull out my crochet bag which by the way, sits right in my face next to the couch.

5. Okay… this is a big one. I really and I mean really need to draw something! What? You thought I was going to say something like remember to feed the cat, because it’s been a week? No. Drawing is a big deal to me. Or rather I should say being artistic. I went to college for art. I have a freaking degree in it. It’s always been my first love since I was 5. However, I’m also emotionally scarred from one particular teacher who was awful, very critical, and told horrible off colored jokes that I refused to laugh at even though everyone else did. He just wasn’t funny… Anyway, I pretty much hear his criticism in my head every time I start a new project and then I just go blank and put all of my art supplies back where they were. Do I sound dramatic? Oh well. The plan is to draw/sketch a little something every week until I get comfortable again. Sending positive vibes my way would be appreciated.

Vision Board 2014

Welcome to 2014!

I love the start of the New Year! It’s almost as if everything from the past year just gets cleaned away and you get to start anew. I know it’s all in people’s mind, but it does provide some comfort and hope knowing that the new year can bring new joyous beginnings. Speaking of new beginnings, why is it that making resolutions seem to get a bad rap nowadays? I wasn’t really into the whole making New Year’s resolutions for most of my life, because let’s be honest.. most people (including myself) have just broken them. I do like the idea of setting goals that you’d like to achieve though. It’s the same thing as making a vision board, which I’ve been told by my friend that I must join in on this year.

I’ve decided to create one on Polyvore. If you’re addicted to or even remotely like fashion…. you need to be on Polyvore. You get to make a collage of outfits, themes, and your personal style. For me it’s like going on a carte blanche shopping spree and everything fits perfectly! Warning: It can be very addictive.

My Official Goal this Year: Discipline!

It encompasses everything that I want to accomplish or work on, (i.e. living a healthier lifestyle, keeping up with chores, really setting up a schedule for my Etsy business and taking inventory, learning how to let my light shine, writing and blogging more consistently, etc, etc, etc.) So what are your goals or resolutions? Let me know!

Ciao!
